FAQ: Starting The Journey With US

Can I bring my own dog?

Yes - we offer professional evaluations to determine if your dog is a good fit for service work. If they qualify, we will guide you through a customized training plan.

What if I don't have a dog yet?

No worries- we got you. If you qualify for our program, we will help to find the right dog for you, based on needs and your lifestyle.

How do you decide which dog is right for someone?

We look at your day- to-day life, specific challenges, and goals. Our trainers evaluate each dog's temperament, focus, and strength to create the best match.

How long does training take?

It depends on whether you're starting with your own dog or being matched with a younger dog. Full training generally takes 6 to 18 months, with weekly meet ups and support along the way.

What does the program cost?

Walk Forward is a nonprofit - we work hard to make service dogs accessible. Costs are significantly reduced through donations, and we will walk you through the entire progress.
